Why Wear Contact Lenses on a Night Out?

If you know anyone who wears glasses, you may have noticed that in certain situations they opt to wear contact lenses instead. The choice between glasses and contacts isn’t one that is set in stone – many people own both, and wear them at different times depending on the situation. When going out on an evening, whether for a posh meal, casual drinks, or a wild night dancing, sometimes the physical presence of glasses on your face can be somewhat inconvenient. Also people often tend to use coloured contact lenses so they can change their appearance.

This is why many people opt to wear lenses instead – they are invisible and make no physical alteration to your appearance, and are more practical than glasses in a tight space like a nightclub where glasses could be knocked around or even off your face, causing them to be lost or damaged.

Lenses, on the other hand, will stay in pretty much no matter what, and even if you do happen to lose one of the pair they are easier to replace as the majority of lenses are disposable anyway.

If you do decide to wear contact lenses instead of glasses when you go out on an evening, you also need to decide what kind of lenses you will choose. Casual lens wearers are usually offered daily disposables by their opticians. These lenses can be worn once and then thrown away, so if one is lost or damaged you don’t really lose out. However, as these lenses are thinner they are a little more likely to break or become dislodged from the eye. Weekly lenses last for seven days before you need to throw them away and break out a new pair, whilst monthly lenses last for approximately four weeks. These kinds of lenses are better for people who will opt to wear them on a more regular basis, for example for work or during sport and similar activities.
