Labor & Delivery Hospital Check List

Countdown to baby delivery is so close by. I’m currently 34 weeks.. and I feel anxious and nervous even though is my second pregnancy. Before all the excitement, there is one painful process before baby comes: Labor.

It is time that I should have everything ready but that is not the case; I still have a lot to do before this baby comes. To help other moms and myself, I created this checklist based on my experience from my first pregnancy.

A hospital checklist should be plain, simple and will make you feel ready for the due date.

MUST HAVES:

  • Insurance info, ID and birth plan (if you have one)
  • a few pairs of nonskid socks
  • A warm robe or sweater
  • maternity bras and nursing pads (even if you are not breastfeeding, this will help with support and leaking)
  • Make-Up bag with your essentials like Lip balm
  • Toiletries:  hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, ponytail holder or headbands
  • Non-Perishable Snacks: For you, your children or husband.
  • Money: Change for vending machines
  • Cell phone and charger
  • Video and/or Camera
  • Going-Home outfit & underwear for you that is comfortable. Ingrid & Isabel’s Lounge Pants are a perfect example, a rugged tee or these belly leggins that can provide support and will make you feel comfortable.
  • Pads: Hospital supply these but they were not as comfortable as I like them. I advice you to bring your favorite overnight pads.
  • Slippers
  • A magazine, iPad or book.

What to Bring For Baby:

  • A car-seat
  • A coming-home outfit that is comfortable for baby.
  • A warm blanket or swaddle blanket
  • A few receiving blankets
  • Depending on weather: bring some newborn hats.
  • Burp Cloth
  • A few of your favorite diapers; I highly recommend Pampers Swaddlers.
  • Wipes
  • Optional: Pacifier

Only 5 more week sand is baby time! Wish me luck and positive thoughts for me and my family because, labor is what they say; painful but rewarding.
