Dove Movement for Self-Esteem #DoveInspired

Dove believes beauty should be a source of confidence, not anxiety. That is so true! The Dove Movement is just the right step for you to start the conversation to talk to your young girl about beauty and self-esteem.Young girls need that boost and it will mean much more if it comes from a family member or close friend. Make a difference by inspiring young girls and help them feel better about themselves.

I’m part of a family that is not that open when it comes to self-esteem or any embarrassing topic like relationships or sex. Not only I wished we were close family back then, but a woman-to-teenager talk could of helped my self-esteem when I was a teenager! So, I relied on myself to pass through my young age stage. I wasn’t confident enough to join cheer-leading or any sport for that matter. Confidence for me starts from my inner beauty but with no one to really talk to, I wasn’t really comfortable with myself. Where you the same? Did your mom ever talked to you about self-esteem?

When little Aries is old enough, I will be talking to her about beauty and self-esteem. I would love to have a close relationship with my daughter and having a conversation about beauty and self-esteem is on my parenting to do list.  A simple; “you look pretty” can mean a lot to anyone; young or old. It all starts from feeling beautiful from the inside.

  • Okay, I seriously teared up reading your post…so very true a simple “you look pretty” can mean so very much, young or old. Growing up, that wasn’t ever said… for elders fear that you’d get a BIG head…I feel like maybe I would’ve had more confidence at a younger age had that not been the case. I tell my daughter all the time that she’s beautiful and looks pretty or picked out a nice outfit. It’s such an important part in any child’s life. Boys even like to hear that they look handsome or their spiky hair is cool. Either way, a positive influence is always the best!

    Thanks for writing this!ReplyCancel

I’m sorry you went through that. In my family every topic is up for talks, I am very thankful that both my mom and dad always talked with me about everything. To this day they are one of the first people in my life to hear news be it good or bad. My husband and I are raising our kids the same way and we are always talking with them and encouraging them. It is so important to build self-esteem at home.ReplyCancel

  • I feel your pain. Although, I was always told I was beautiful I didn’t always feel that way because I was different looking then the rest of my family. I grew to see what they all saw but it took me a long time.
I always tell women and girls just how beautiful they are inside and out whether they believe it or not, I do!ReplyCancel
