Guest Post: Debbie from Africa’s Blog

The lovely Debbie from Africa’s Blog is guest posting today sharing her Christmas Story!
Thanks DEBBIE for sharing with us how you spend your Christmas Day!
Now to you Debbie..

Who do we spend Christmas with ??
My partner and I spend Christmas with her family; parents, 2 sisters and a brother, and the 5 nieces and nephews. (My family is in South Africa, and we live in Minnesota, USA)
When I lived in South Africa (I was just a youngster, 19 when I left) we woke up, early, Christmas day to open gifts.  Then my dad would make us breakfast while my mom started on preparing the food for the main celebration later in the day.  It is summer time in South Africa during Christmas time so we spend a lot of time outside, playing with our new gifts and swimming, biking, etc.

Father Christmas / Santa … What is your family tradition when it comes to Santa ??Back in South Africa we call him Father Christmas and we’d always leave 2 cookies out on a plate and a glass of milk for Father Christmas, get to bed as early as we could and wake up way too early on Christmas day to see what he brought us. This tradition continued on to my brothers children and of course my one brother wakes up earlier then his two daughters and wakes them up LOL!

What do you usually do on Christmas Day ??
In Minnesota we have the morning at home, my partner and I and our two puppies of course. Then around 1/2pm we head over to Jeanna’s parents house and partake in the celebrations of the day, just been with family, joking and talking, playing with the nieces and nephews and maybe some new video game action/challenges LOL!!
What’s the Best Thing about Christmas to you ??
Celebrating the Birth of Christ, Spending time with Family, gifts (of course gifts are awesome) I much prefer giving gifts, especially to children then receiving them. And of course amazing food
! ! !
