My daughter is about a month into third grade and reading is fundamental and very much practiced. We buy tons of books and try to read at least 25 minutes every day. Making reading fun is something we encourage as we want her to love reading and not make reading feel forced. Cue to a new Mo Willems book to get her excited! Unlimited Squirrels in I Lost My Tooth! is a book she absolutely loved.
The book is the first in a new series from Mo Willems! It was very easy for her to read and have fun reading along with her little brother. She even enjoyed reading to her little kitten. She loved the story and the pictures. I think the educational portion explaining teeth at the end of the book is perfection. I loved seeing her so happy reading aloud, making the exclamations as fun as possible. I asked her to read it to me, and it was truly a very cute, creative book to read at bedtime and also for reading time after school.
To celebrate the new release of Mo Willems’ new book, we created a mini tooth fairy box using some natural elements and of course fairy elements like glitter. In the story, a baby tooth is pulled out, and lost. Never lose another baby tooth with this fairy box! Your kiddo can put their tooth inside after it falls out and make it easy for the tooth fairy to find it.
Materials Needed:
– A craft box
– glitter
– natural leaves
– cotton balls
– mod podge
Use a brush to add mod podge to the outside of the craft box, then sprinkle on glitter .
Add cushion inside the box by using some cotton, then add pieces of boxwood leaves.
Top it with fresh flowers using hot glue to arrange in place.
Once a tooth falls off, its ready to place in the fairy box.
Don’t forget to read Unlimited Squirrels in I Lost My Tooth! and let us know what your kiddos think about the book.
