Have you heard? Disney is adding a new princess, Elena of Avalor. Elena of Avalor is a new Disney Chanel series that features its first Latina princess, “a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairy tale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.” Elena of Avalor will be filled with action as she takes her rightful place as Crown Princess in the kingdom of Avalor. Elena will have the help of her younger sister, Princess Isabel, her grandparents, Francisco and Luisa, and her friends.

Being a Latina myself and growing up with Disney all my life, this news is so amazing to me and my little family. It feels like a little girl again, getting excited for our favorite cartoon show. My little girl, is yet to know of what being a Latina, Hispanic and Mexican American is, but she knows that we are proud of who we are. She loves

My little girl watched all the previews and she is super excited to watch more. She asked me to make her a dress like Elena of Avalor and that I should make are a crown too. We love all the colors and folklore the new series of Princess of Avalor is representing. I’m excited to see all the traditions depicted, all the landscapes and Princess Elena’s wolf-like spirit guide.

We are celebrating the premier of Disney’s Princess Elena of Avalor this July 22 with a mini viewing party at home, balloons, a mini cake, lots of coloring, and yummy food. I’m thinking of bringing my roots to life with food, even make a piñata and décor.  My little girl is excited for the date to come sooner, and I seriously can not wait to watch the premier of Princess Elena of Avalor along side my little ones.
