Geek Squad Soluction Central at Best Buy

Have you visited the Geek Squad at Best Buy for help? I visited the Geek Squad at Best Buy to get some help with my DSLR. So, I scheduled an appointment online for the Geek Squad Solution Central. It was all going great until I arrived and one of the Geek Squad Agents told me that they scheduled two appointments at the same time and there was only one agent that could help the both of us.

The agent asked me if I could wait 20 minuutes so he could attend the other customer first because the customer was in a hurry to leave. So, I said it was ok.  35 minutes passed by until a sales associate, not a Geek Agent (Jeanette) nicely helped me but she had not much experience. I explained the problem with my lens and asked how my new lens should work.  The problem with my new lens I purchased at Best Buy wasn’t showing the F-Stop on the monitor and wasn’t sure how to change the settings for the lens. Jeanette is not a Geek Squad agent but did gave me some pointers and she was also able to help me with getting a quote of the value of my camera.

At the end, I left the Geek Squad Solution center with not much help and asked me to come back the next day to talk to the expert on DSLRs. After running errands all day with a fuzzy toddler and hungry husband; I had to leave and couldn’t wait any longer. I do believe they did their job but the problem was the scheduling of two appointments.

Overall, I would go back for any other solutions or help I may need with my gear. They do seem like they know their gear but I just hope the scheduling of appointments gets fixed. Have you visited the Geek Squad lately? How has your experience visiting a Geek Squad Solution Central at Best Buy?

I’ve had similar experience with them, I strongly believe they are under staffed and can only hope they hire more people and train them so they can help. Having a hungry husband and a fussy toddler is never fun, specially when running errands.ReplyCancel

  • I have never used the geek squad. However when I have asked other workers about things in the store they do seem knowledgeable, if busy. But next time I have a problem with my camera I’ll get an appointment I didn’t even know they did that. Thanks for sharing.:)ReplyCancel

I worked at Best Buy in the camera department for almost 2 years. The thing about that company is they hire anyone that can sell. I knew very little about cameras when I started and when I left, I still couldn’t tell you a lot of things a camera “expert” should know. The Geek Squad is really only for computers. If we had customers come in with something wrong with their camera, the Geek Squad would often refer them to the camera department. Best Buy is fine if you know enough about the products you’re looking to buy but honestly, I would recommend going to other stores that employ people that really do know what they’re talking about. Honestly, the managers would tell us to learn enough about a few different products and really sell those. It’s the main reason I quit. I always felt like I was being dishonest.ReplyCancel

I have had the displeasure of meeting with them twice. I have sworn to NEVER return to a best buy ever! I literally had to show the “GEEK” how to insert a memory card in a camcorder 🙁ReplyCancel

  • I was just thinking, how cool you can make an appointment! But if they get double-booked, that takes all the convenience out of it. I’m glad to know your true experience. Thanks for sharing.ReplyCancel
